Funding partners



Dan Church Aid supported CCFU to develop a training curriculum on Culture in Development for development workers, run a 2-module training and to produce a training guide. In addition, support was provided to carry out research, document and launch 4 case studies on ‘Culture and Governance’ in Tooro, Panyimur (Jonam), Lango/Teso, and Pokot.

UNESCO Regional Office helped CCFU to provide technical support to community museums including a national exhibition and small grants to implement individual plans to improve on the presentation, preservation, marketing and publicity of the museums.

Development Research and Training (DRT) finances CCFU to engage 320 clan leaders from 4 regions in deliberating on their role and contribution to development, the outcome of which is the development of four Clan Leaders’ Charters – in the respective local languages and the translation of these into English.

Uganda National NGO Forum: As part of the Citizens’ Manifesto, 15 cultural resource persons were brought together to identify common values and development aspirations from a cultural perspective which were incorporated into the Manifesto. In addition, 160 clan leaders from 2 regions have been brought together to deliberate on their role and contribution to development, the outcome of this is the development of two Clan Leaders’ Charters – in the respective local languages and translated into English.

The Humanist Institute for Cooperation with Developing Countries (HIVOS) and the Kosmopolis Institute, the Netherlands support CCFU to implement the Promoting Pluralism Knowledge Programme (PPKP) that involves research, documentation and advocacy activities to better understand pluralism and managing diversity in the local context and engage with PPKP regional partners in India, Indonesia and the Netherlands. The support covers the costs for coordinating the PPK programme in Uganda.

HIVOS
Prince Claus Fund supports the implementation of a culture heritage programme that involves the production of a publication, accompanying film, and catalogues on the experiences of community museums in Uganda and their contribution to local development is part of a multi-annual CCFU project intended to promote community museums and heritage through income generation which started in 2007.

Anonymous friend supports the implementation of a culture heritage education project that involves developing a teachers’ training kit, supporting school heritage clubs and running a heritage competition resulting in the production of a heritage calendar and policy advocacy for heritage education.
